[TED] 6개월 만에 언어를 배우는 방법 - Chris Lonsdale

by 화분 2015. 4. 6.

5 Principles

#1. Focus on language content that is relevant to you.

#2. Use your language as a tool to communicate right from day one. As a kid does.

#3. When you first understand the message, then you will acquire the language unconsciously.
#4. Comprehension is KEY.
Language learning is not about accumulating lots of knowledge. It’s physiological training. Speaking takes muscle.

#5. Psycho-physiological state matters.
If you’re comfortable with getting some, not getting some, just paying attention to what you do understand, you’re going to be fine, you’ll be relaxed and you’ll be learning quickly.

7 Actions

#1. Listen a lot. Brain Soaking.

#2. Focus on getting the meaning FIRST (before the words). Use body language

#3. Start Mixing! Language is a creative process. So start mixing, get creative, have fun with it, it doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to work.

#4. Focus on the core. In English, 1000 words covers 85%, 3000 words gives you 98% of anything you’re going to say in daily conversation. You got 3000 words, you’re speaking the language.

Week 1. The Tool Box
- ‘how do you say that?’ ‘I don’t understand,’ ‘repeat that please,’ ‘what does that mean,’ all in your target language.

Week 2-3. Simple Pronouns, Common Verbs, Adjectives
- ‘me,’ ‘this,’ ‘you,’ ‘that,’ ‘give,’ you know, ‘hot,’

Week 3-4. Glue the words
- ‘Although,’ ‘but,’ ‘therefore,’ ‘Even though,’

#5. Get a Language Parent
Works to understand what you are saying
Do not correct mistakes
Confirms understanding by using correct language
Uses words the learner knows

#6. Copy the Face.

#7. “Direct Connect” to Mental Images
Realize that everything you know is an image inside your mind, it’s feelings.
So I call it ‘same box, different path.’
